Sometimes my shoulders get sore from carrying around my giant baby all the time, so for that I do some yoga at home. When it gets really bad and I start to feel all stiff, I hand the baby to the husband and take off to an hour-long yoga class.
Like most, I'm a busy mum, but I'm always looking for opportunities to exercise myself while still spending time with my boy. We walk instead of drive when we can, we go swimming together once a week, yesterday we danced to Love Shack in the kitchen and it was so hot I worked up a sweat, and just the other day we went outside on the grass and did some yoga "together".
The great thing about yoga is that you can do it almost anywhere. You can do it at home or you can go to a class. I've done it at the beach, at a park, on the floor while watching TV.
Isaac's a very fidgety, high-energy kid, but when we're outside on the grass, he sits still for once in his life and just takes everything in and picks at the grass, so it's great to have such cute company when I'm stretching and rolling around on the ground.
It just goes to show that, even when you have kids, it is still possible to exercise - just involve them in it! I like to think that if I start now when he's seven months old, but the time he's walking he'll be copying my moves and loving it.
How do you incorporate exercise into your busy life?
*FYI, the picture above is my first back-bend post-baby! Man it felt good to be able to move my body the way I want again!
